Just got done with a IM session with a friend of mine
it’s like October 2007 all over again!
the rumors are really wild this time
everything from closing down MTC and DTC
to whacking all of SI and IPE’s
I was through that mess once.. I really feel for my friends back at AOL. The current management, Randy Falco and Ron Grant, have really screwed that company. And my friends will suffer for their stupidity.
The rumors also say that performance bonuses will be stopped and the layoffs will be smaller. Mainly because they got burned last year by the “widespread-edness of the october layoff”. That means they can have smaller “focused” layoff and offer smaller layoff packages.

… Ugh.
I hear from my sources that they’re actually seeming to put some concerted and … attentive (for lack of a better word) effort into 1) minimizing the number of layoffs, and 2) making sure the cuts make sense this time.
But yeah, it still sucks.
It’s really weird to work somewhere now where, as the school year starts up, I’m not automatically thinking of it as “layoff season”.
