I was watching the traffic jams that was created because 2 million people tried to flee Houston before Rita. It was amazing, traffic jams as long as 100 miles.

I was reminded of something that happened to me Wednesday as I was going home. I was driving down Lawyers Road in Reston, Virginia where it turns into West Ox Road. At that location the road narrows down to a two lane road from a four lane road. It amazes me how people react in traffic. You see people, like the one I will describe, who are so selfish that they will not let anyone in front of them even if it means running into the car in front of them.

One of those people is a woman like this. As I said I was entering the merge and there was a woman in a red Honda Accord. It was an older model and the woman had a ‘Kids First” license plate on the car. I am trying to merge and I look over and see this woman desperately trying not to make eye contact since she was 6 inches from the car in front of her. I was expecting her to run into the guys bumper at any time. I realized this women had no intention of letting me in, which was fine since I could just get behind her.

The strange thing was that I looked over at her, and she started to wave her arm wildly, screaming at the top of her lungs at me for some unknown reason. I was waiting for her to try to run me off the road just so she could get that one car length ahead of me. I just do get what is the fascination is about getting that one car length, and getting so wound around the axle about it. If I were you I would be on the lookout for this woman and avoid her like the plague.
