I had dinner with some geek friends of mine and their wife’s tonight to celebrate Jason’s 30th birthday. It was a surprise birthday dinner arranged by his wife and another of my friends, Alvin.

We were going to a thai restaurant. It was my wife’s first time eating at a thai restaurant. She almost backed out of the dinner Thursday because “She didn’t like thai food.” Ignore the fact that she has never tasted thai food before.

We were all at the restaurant when Jason and Maria joined us. He told us that he kinda suspected something. Dinner was good, I had some green curry that almost killed me because it was so hot. Now, I like hot food, I put hot sause on alot of what I eat, but this was like eating really good tasting burning embers.

It is always funny to socialize with geeks. Dinner conversation ranged from current events, to personal events. But as with all geeks it always comes back to the toys that we have. The geeks, were all excited about a toy that Jason got on sale at Microcenter. Some RC car that he tormented his cat with. He also explained about a small form factor computer that could be used as a unix firewall. Most of the wife’s groaned at more computer equipment since most, if not all, of us have multiple computers in our homes.

As all good things must, the evening came to a end. The evening was enjoyable, Mitz liked the thai food, and Jason is another year older. Me, I was awoken early Saturday by the green curry.
