March 2004

I was surfing and came across this from chris.carline.org. Which I thought was hilarious. a pack of socks without any matches. I showed this to one of the women in our office and we talked about our laundry baskets of unmatched socks that we dig through to find a match.

My officemate went one better. She numbers her socks. Yeah she takes to time to write in each sock so she can match them up. She gave us a reasonable explaination on why she did this… but the thought of it was just funny.

Ok… has anyone seen sock number BR0934?

You ever have one of those days where nothing works right. Well I have been having that day for the last month and a half.

I have been working on a LDAP solution on Solaris 8 and 9. This is suppose to be a proof of concept since we have specific requirements for out passwords and the software we are using right now, Power Password, has some limitations on how it is implemented and we need to explore other options. Is that vague enough?

It seems like my weekends are becoming more and more like my weeks. A blur of activity that ends with a blaring alarm early in the morning. This was not one of those weekends. I woke up without an alarm on Saturday. My daughter came home for the weekend, well her and most of her clothes. I beat my wife at raquetball (sorry about the sore arms babe). We went out to a movie, Scooby Doo2, Monsters Unleashed. Sunday: church, Awana, watch a DVD in the afternoon. Not a bad weekend.

Not next weekend. I have to be in ashburn before 8:15 am. yuck.

I was watching Arch Campbell, the entertainment reporter on NBC4 Friday night. He was talking about the movies that were going to be showing over the weekend. He was running down the movies coming out like Ladykillers (which is one I do want to see) and he gets to the end of the list and basically said Scooby Doo don’t.

Ok, growing up I loved watching Scooby Doo. I would get up early every Saturday morning and watch all the cartoons. Now I do something similar but it is the news shows on Saturday. But Scooby Doo was the highlight of my Saturday morning.

If you, or a movie critic, goes into a Scooby Doo movie expecting Oscar level dialog and direction… well you are in the wrong theatre. If you are expecting goofball dialog, over the top acting and a CGI Great Dane. Then you need to watch a Scooby Doo movie. It was full of kids and it was what I expected, a goof ball movie that was a fun escape for two hours.

Last week we got a call from our credit card company.

‘um… did you spend $1000 over the weekend at Wal-Mart?’

Not that we wouldn’t, but we didn’t. Anyway, spending a $1000 at Wal-Mart is
no small feat. I figured the people that did this had a train of shoppings carts going out the door. The also filled up thier car and got some books at Borders. I am glad we could be of such service to them. ;-)

So we cancelled our mastercard and are waiting, along with thousands of others for our new mastercard. If you want a used mastercard number….I have one.

I just got a call from my wife

It is 90 degrees in our bedroom…isn’t that great?

Um…only if it is 150 degrees outside. We got one of the early spring hot days where it is like 65 degrees outside and she keeps the windows closed. I am going to go home today and die in this house. The fun of having a Puerto Rican wife
